sarah + dylan

There are a number of moments I remember vividly from this wedding, but there’s one in particular that stands out. Sarah, as she was getting ready sitting on the edge of the bed, smiling, beaming and almost shaking with excitement saying “come on, I can’t wait to be married already!” That’s when I knew that this was going to be an incredible wedding.

They were giddy like teenagers in love and running away together. They threw their arms up in the air when they were officially pronounced husband and wife and they didn’t even make it to vows before they embraced and shared a kiss. There were winks, kisses blown, hugs and loving glances at each other and they proudly referred to each other as “my husband” and “my wife” through their speeches.

Their love and excitement is absolutely contagious and we’ve been smiling looking through these photos ever since.

Elise + Matt

Every photoshoot is a creative collaboration. We discussed locations and details back and forth. We discovered this beautiful burnt out bushland and Matt found the only accessible road (albeit a very bumpy one) in. Matt and Elise brought so many incredible ideas to the table and we were so excited to to do this shoot. We had no idea how blown away we’d be.

From the stunning locations to their crazily adorable dog Stelly and finishing off with some very silly and hilarious ‘fan dancing’ this was a really special shoot for us and we are so excited to share it. We hope you love this as much as we do.

Niamh + Gary in Surry Hills

We learned pretty early on that we both had an appreciation for understanding people. I know, that sounds a bit obvious, but there’s something really intriguing there for us. A hand in the right place or a small little comment at the right time can mean so much more.

We met with Niamh and Gary early one Saturday morning and wandered the streets of Surry Hills in Sydney together. We watched as Gary could make Niamh laugh so easily, and the way Gary couldn’t help but smile at her reaction. It these things that make us excited for every shoot. Every new couple. Every new interaction. We can’t get enough.

Giveaway winners!

We were so overwhelmed with the entries we received for our recent giveaway. Honestly, every time a new one came in Lisa and I would dive to our computers and just be amazed by the quality and effort that people put into them.

As we sat down last night to go through all of them, it became pretty obvious that we couldn’t just have one couple win. It was extremely difficult but we narrowed it down to two couples who impressed us so much with their entries.

So, it is with great pleasure that we announce Flick + Dave, and Jess + Octavio as the winners of our giveaway. There was so much to love about both of your entries. We can’t wait until your shoots!

Thanks again to everyone else who entered. We really appreciated the time and effort you all put in.

Foundations

I turned 29 last week.

Lisa surprised me with a long weekend away in Bellingen, near Coffs Harbour. For those of you not familiar with it, Bellingen feels like a town that was created in the mind of a novelist. It’s almost too perfect. Down every street is yet another gorgeous scene. The locals wave to you as they drive past. Strangers smile at each other in the street. Roosters wake you in the morning without being the product of a mobile phone’s alarm.

This last year has been pretty intense for both of us. A lot has happened in our lives. We’ve been excited, amazed, delighted, and most importantly, proud. We’ve had the support of our incredible friends and family and we have something real and tangible to show for it.

I can’t describe to you the feeling of watching the pieces assemble. Every day that passes yields something that will stay with us for years to come. There are few things more rewarding than watching something you’ve built with your own hands come to life.

And I’m doing all of this with someone I love. Someone who can watch those same pieces fall into place. Someone who can bring everything they have to offer and repeatedly floor me with the results.

Love you, Lis. I can’t wait to see what we build together.
